Highlights of the collection include New York State’s only fully-equipped 19th century whaleboat with original gear and one of the notable scrimshaw collections in the northeast. Touch a whale's rib, find out what ambergris is, see nautical tools, and find out about life on Long Island in the 1800s. Kids can enjoy puzzles and toys in the family workshop.

Waves & Watercolors highlights paintings of Claus Hoie (1911-2007) and sea-themed artwork of other contemporary local artists. Explore life at sea through the world of art and art-making. Through Labor Day 2014.
